Refrigerators

GE Fridge Problems We Fix

We repair GE, GE Profile and Café fridges, including French-door models, starting with the simple causes.

Water Under the Crisper Drawers
Likely cause
Usually a frozen or blocked defrost drain, so melt water from the freezer coil overflows into the fridge section.
Try this first
Take out the crisper drawers, dry the bottom and check for ice at the back. Make sure the fridge is level side to side and tilts slightly back, so the doors swing closed.
When to call Aria
If water keeps coming back after a few days, book a visit. We clear the drain and check the defrost heater that keeps it from freezing again.
Fridge Warm, Freezer Still Cold
Likely cause
The evaporator fan, or frost on the coil from a defrost fault that blocks cold air to the fridge side.
Try this first
Make sure nothing is pressed against the vents and the doors close all the way. A fridge thermometer on a middle shelf tells you the real temperature.
When to call Aria
If it stays above 4 °C after a day, book a visit.
Ice Maker Not Making Ice
Likely cause
A frozen fill tube, a failed water inlet valve, or an ice maker that has stopped cycling.
Try this first
Check the ice maker switch or the feeler arm is on, the water filter isn't overdue, and the water supply valve behind the fridge is open.
When to call Aria
If ice still won't come after a day, book a visit.
Fridge Running Loud or Clicking
Likely cause
A noisy evaporator or condenser fan, or a compressor start part that clicks on and off.
Try this first
Pull the fridge out a little and check nothing is touching the back, and that the fridge is level. Vacuum the condenser coils if your model has them at the bottom.
When to call Aria
If the noise is new and it's getting warmer, book a visit. A clicking start part is a common, quick repair.

Seeing a code? See GE fridge codes

Water pooled under the crisper drawers inside a fridge

Good to know

Keep the doors closed while you wait for us, and put a towel under the crispers if water is collecting.

Most fridge repairs we do land around $120–$550, depending on the part. You get the exact price before any work starts.

Stove & Oven

GE Stove and Oven Problems We Fix

We repair GE, GE Profile and Café gas and electric stoves, wall ovens and cooktops, including convection models.

Gas Burner Clicks but Won't Light
Likely cause
Usually a wet or misaligned burner cap, or a weak igniter or spark module.
Try this first
Once the cooktop is cool, dry the burner cap and base and seat the cap flat. Spills often stop a burner lighting for a while.
When to call Aria
If it still won't light, or keeps clicking after it lights, book a visit. If you smell gas, leave it off and call your gas utility first.
Oven Not Heating
Likely cause
A failed bake element, a weak gas oven igniter, or the oven temperature sensor.
Try this first
Check the breaker, make sure a delay start or Sabbath mode isn't on, and try Broil to see if the top element or burner heats.
When to call Aria
If Bake stays cold, book a visit. We test the element, igniter and sensor before replacing anything.
F3 or F9 Code on the Display
Likely cause
On many models, F3 or F4 points to the oven sensor and F9 to the door lock circuit. F2 means the oven ran too hot.
Try this first
Turn the stove off at the breaker for one minute and try again. Don't use the oven while an F2 code is showing.
When to call Aria
If the code comes back, write it down and book a visit.
Door Locked After Self-Clean
Likely cause
The oven stays locked until it cools. If it won't unlock once cool, often the door lock motor or switch has failed.
Try this first
Let the oven cool fully, then press Clear/Off. If LOC shows, the controls are locked. On many models you hold the Lock Controls pad for 3 seconds to unlock.
When to call Aria
If the door still won't unlock once cool, book a visit. Please don't force the door.

Seeing a code? See GE stove and oven codes

Gas cooktop burner sparking but not lighting, with the burner cap slightly out of place

Good to know

GE wall ovens and cooktops get the same approach: we test the element, igniter, sensor and controls before replacing anything.

Most stove and oven repairs we do land around $130–$350, depending on the part. You get the exact price before any work starts.

Washers

GE Washer Problems We Fix

We repair GE and GE Profile top-load and front-load washers, including agitator and impeller models.

Not Spinning, Clothes Soaking Wet
Likely cause
An unbalanced load, a lid or door lock that isn't engaging, a blocked drain, or a worn shifter or drive part.
Try this first
Spread the load out evenly and run a Drain & Spin cycle. On top-loaders, make sure the lid is fully closed.
When to call Aria
If it still won't spin, book a visit. Tell us if you hear the motor hum or nothing at all.
Not Draining
Likely cause
A sock or small item in the pump, a kinked drain hose, or a drain pump that has failed.
Try this first
Check the drain hose isn't kinked or pushed too far into the standpipe. On front-loaders, clean the pump filter behind the small door at the bottom front, with towels down first.
When to call Aria
If water still won't drain, the pump needs testing.
Washer Leaking
Likely cause
A loose fill hose, a split drain hose, too much suds, or a tub seal or pump leak.
Try this first
Check both fill hoses are tight at the back and use HE detergent, a little less of it.
When to call Aria
If water still shows up after a normal load, book a visit. Tell us where the puddle starts.
Lid or Door Won't Lock
Likely cause
Something caught in the lid or door, or a worn lid lock or door lock.
Try this first
Close the lid or door firmly, check nothing is in the way, and unplug the washer for one minute before restarting.
When to call Aria
A worn lock is a common repair. If the lights keep flashing, book a visit.

Seeing a code? See GE washer codes

Heavy wet towels left in a top-load washer after the cycle

Good to know

On top-loaders, washing one bulky item like a comforter on its own can stop the spin. Add a couple of towels to balance it.

Most washer repairs we do land around $150–$350, depending on the part. You get the exact price before any work starts.

Dryers

GE Dryer Problems We Fix

We repair GE and GE Profile electric and gas dryers, including stacked and laundry-centre units.

Dryer Not Heating
Likely cause
On electric dryers, often a heating element or thermal fuse. On gas dryers, an igniter or gas valve coils. A blown thermal fuse usually means the vent was blocked.
Try this first
Check both breakers for an electric dryer, since one can trip and leave the drum turning with no heat. On gas dryers, check the gas valve behind the dryer is open.
When to call Aria
We test and replace the failed part, and check the vent so it doesn't happen again.
Check Vent Light or Long Dry Times
Likely cause
Lint building up in the vent duct, or a crushed duct behind the dryer. GE's Check Vent alert is a warning about airflow, not a dryer fault.
Try this first
Clean the lint filter, then check the duct isn't crushed and the outside flap opens when the dryer runs.
When to call Aria
If the vent is clear and loads still take more than one cycle, book a visit.
Squealing or Thumping
Likely cause
Worn drum rollers, a worn idler pulley or drum glides, or a loose belt.
Try this first
Check for a coin or zipper caught between the drum and the front.
When to call Aria
If the noise stays, stop using it and book a visit. These parts are worth replacing before they damage the drum.
Dryer Won't Start
Likely cause
The door switch, a thermal fuse, or the start switch or control.
Try this first
Make sure the door is shut firmly and the breaker is on. Check whether a control lock is on, since many GE dryers have one.
When to call Aria
If it still won't start, book a visit.

Seeing a code? See GE dryer codes

Hand reaching for a closed gas shut-off valve on the flex line behind a gas dryer

Good to know

Short, straight 4-inch metal duct helps any dryer dry faster and keeps the Check Vent alert away.

Most dryer repairs we do land around $130–$320, depending on the part. You get the exact price before any work starts.

Dishwashers

GE Dishwasher Problems We Fix

We repair GE, GE Profile and Café built-in dishwashers, including models with a hard food disposer or a manual filter.

Dishes Still Dirty
Likely cause
A dirty filter, blocked spray arms, cold water at the start, or a weak wash pump.
Try this first
Clean the filter if your model has a removable one, check the spray arms spin freely, and run the kitchen tap until it's hot before starting.
When to call Aria
If dishes still come out gritty, book a visit. Code C6 means the water is too cold, at least 49 °C (120 °F) is needed.
Not Draining (C1 or C3)
Likely cause
A blocked air gap, a kinked drain hose, a new disposal's knockout plug, or a drain pump that has failed.
Try this first
Clean the filter, check the drain hose under the sink, clean the air gap on the counter if you have one, and run the disposal before you start.
When to call Aria
If water still sits in the bottom, the pump needs testing.
Leaking or Water Under the Door
Likely cause
A worn door gasket, the wrong detergent, or a stuck float. Some models show C4 or LEAK DETECTED.
Try this first
Use only dishwasher detergent, never dish soap. Check the door closes evenly, and gently tap the float cover inside the tub to free it.
When to call Aria
Switch it off and book a visit if water keeps appearing.
Detergent Not Dissolving (C8)
Likely cause
Something blocking the detergent cup door, or a dispenser that has failed.
Try this first
Check a tall pan or utensil isn't blocking the detergent cup, and that the door closes fully.
When to call Aria
If the cup still won't open, book a visit.

Codes vary by model. Write down the exact code from the display, since it helps us bring the right part.

Most dishwasher repairs we do land around $130–$340, depending on the part. You get the exact price before any work starts.

Microwaves · Range hoods

GE Microwave and Range Hood Problems We Fix

We repair GE, GE Profile and Café over-the-range microwaves and GE range hoods.

Vent Fan or Light Not Working
Likely cause
A failed fan motor, a blown bulb or LED, a thermal switch, or the control board.
Try this first
Clean or replace the grease filters under the microwave or hood, and try the fan on every speed. Replace the cooktop light bulb if it's a bulb type.
When to call Aria
If the fan stays silent or the light won't come on with a new bulb, book a visit.
Microwave Runs but Doesn't Heat
Likely cause
A failed high-voltage diode, capacitor, magnetron or door switch.
Try this first
Make sure the door closes firmly and heat a cup of water for one minute. If the light and turntable work but the water stays cold, stop using it.
When to call Aria
Microwaves hold a charge even when unplugged, so please don't open the cover. Book a visit.
Turntable Not Turning
Likely cause
The turntable isn't seated on its coupler, or the turntable motor has failed.
Try this first
Lift out the glass tray and roller ring, clean them and seat the tray back onto the centre coupler. Check the turntable isn't switched off.
When to call Aria
If it still won't turn, the motor needs replacing.
Hood Not Clearing Smoke
Likely cause
Clogged grease filters, a stuck damper, or an old charcoal filter on a recirculating setup.
Try this first
Soak the metal grease filters in hot soapy water, and replace the charcoal filter if your hood recirculates.
When to call Aria
If the fan sounds weak with clean filters, book a visit to check the motor and damper.

Our 2 year old Electrolux washing machine started glitching and would stop and display several error codes during the drain cycle (full of water and wet clothes). I called Electrolux and their technician determined that the drain pump needed to be replaced, but it would have taken about a week for them to receive the part and come back to install it.

We decided to call Joe at Aria Appliance Repair after a friend recommended him. Joe came out, tested the pump, got the washer to drain and found that the pump was actually working. He spent more time testing the machine and eventually determined that the main control board was the problem. He came back the next day with the new board, installed it, and tested the washer twice to make sure everything was working properly.

I've since run several loads with no issues. We were really impressed with Joe's knowledge and troubleshooting. He was able to properly diagnose the problem when the manufactures technician had misdiagnosed it. Definitely recommend Joe and Aria Appliance Repair.

What does F3 mean on my GE oven?
On many GE ovens, F3 or F4 points to the oven temperature sensor or its wiring. Turn the stove off at the breaker for one minute and try again. If the code comes back, we test the sensor and wiring and replace what has failed.
What do F2 and F9 mean on a GE oven?
On many models, F2 means the oven ran too hot, so don't use it while the code shows. F9 points to the door lock circuit, often after a self-clean. Let the oven cool, then reset the breaker for one minute. If either code returns, book a visit.
Why won't my GE oven door unlock after self-clean?
The door stays locked until the oven cools. Once cool, press Clear/Off. If LOC shows, the controls are locked, and on many models you hold Lock Controls for 3 seconds. If the door still won't unlock, the lock motor or switch has often failed. Please don't force the door.
Why won't my GE gas burner light?
Usually the burner cap is wet or sitting crooked, or the igniter is weak. Let the cooktop cool, dry the cap and base, and seat the cap flat. If it still clicks without lighting, we test the igniter and spark module. If you smell gas, leave it off and call your gas utility first.
Why is there water under the crispers in my GE fridge?
Usually the defrost drain at the back of the freezer has frozen or blocked, so melt water overflows into the fridge section. Dry it up and check the fridge is level. If water keeps coming back, we clear the drain and test the defrost heater so it doesn't freeze again.
What do C1 and C3 mean on a GE dishwasher?
On many models, C1 means the dishwasher took too long to pump out and C3 means it isn't draining. Clean the filter, check the drain hose and the air gap, and make sure a new disposal's knockout plug was removed. If water still sits in the bottom, the drain pump needs testing.
What does Check Vent mean on my GE dryer?
It means the dryer is sensing restricted airflow, usually lint in the duct or a crushed duct behind the dryer. It's a warning, not a dryer fault. Clean the lint filter, check the duct and the outside flap. If the vent run is long or hard to reach, a vent cleaning company is the right call.
Why is my GE washer not spinning?
Often the load is out of balance, the lid isn't locking, or the washer can't drain. Spread the load out and run a Drain & Spin cycle. If it still won't spin, book a visit. Tell us whether you hear the motor hum, since that helps us plan.
Do you repair GE Profile and Café appliances?
Yes. GE Profile and Café are both GE Appliances lines, and we repair their fridges, stoves, wall ovens, cooktops, dishwashers, washers, dryers and over-the-range microwaves the same way: test first, then give you the price before any work starts.
How much does GE repair cost?
Diagnostic regularly $129, now $99, and always waived when Aria does the repair. After testing, you get the exact repair price before any work starts. Installing a new GE appliance starts from $129. We accept cards, debit, cash, PayPal and Apple Pay, and completed repairs carry our 1-Year Parts & Labour Warranty.
Is it worth repairing a GE appliance?
Most GE repairs are a single part: an igniter, an element, a defrost heater, a door lock, a pump or a fan, and those are usually worth fixing. A simple rule: if the repair costs less than about half of a comparable new appliance, repair it. The bigger calls are sealed-system fridge work or a main control board. We price it first, so you decide.
How do I book GE repair near me?

We serve all of Vaughan, including Woodbridge, Maple, Kleinburg, Concord and Thornhill. If you're outside Vaughan, call to confirm your address.
